Customer Reviews

1.) I watched this movie with some friends and I was like, I have to own this movie. Their is no sad part in this movie it is either action packed or comedy. Spoiler Alert: The villain is a giant douche, what is not funny about that.t

2.) i have a son who can't talk, but communicates well. He bought a toy dog Max before the movie came out. Now he's not a huge movie watcher, but if it has a fish or a dog in it he'll watch it. I took him to the theater, and he saw the picture of Max the dog. He pointed at it and I told him that's the movie we're going to see. He smiled big. My six year old boy along with every other kid in the theater laughed so hard throughout the whole movie. My son rarely laughs at funny parts of movies, bc he doesn't understand it, but this movie he understood and laughed, and he made me laugh. He was hugging me throughout the whole movie that was his was of saying thank you mommy, I love this movie. His favorite scene that he laughed the hardest at was when Max and the other dog find a sausage factory and are in sausage heaven. Every kid loved that scene. After the movie we had to go to Walmart and he found a talking Max plush toy. He's been carrying him around all over. I took my son to see Zootopia, and half way through he got bored, but my teenage daughters loved it, why? The plot was geared towards grown kids and adults, however Secret life of pets the plot is so simple that kids absolutely love it, and for that I loved it! My kid sat through the whole movie and the credits he didn't want to leave. By the way my teen daughters loved that movie, too. Remember, it's suppose to be a kids movie, not an adult movie, and this one is the kids kid movie! Love it!

3.) The story, characters, action and dialogue are drop-dead HILARIOUS! For those of us who have dog fur babies, so much of the plot and animal behavior rings true. I found myself constantly belly-laughing at the antics of every character. Another win from the studio that gave us the Minions.

The two fugitives realize there's a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.

2.) Special Features

I sort of fell in love with this movie without expecting to. It was kind of ridiculous I wound up watching the rental so many times to the point that I just bought it when I saw it at the store lol.. I think it's difficult when you only review things you love (or super dislike) - I should probably review more but when you see others making similar comments for or against something it's easy to just let them say it.

For me the movie had so many elements and layers that you don't often find in animated films. The writing was great, I find myself quoting Boov from time to time now. The Boov (purple creature on the cover) had control of everything in the galaxy for the most part and thought that they were right about everything but it took a series of events to help them begin to understand that other beings have feelings and a right to live a good life of their own making as well. Once that became more clear suddenly the truth of the various infringements on the rights of others became more obvious and there was a new willingness to reach out and be vulnerable and correct those wrongs. It was also a feel-good story on ways that when people's lives get turned upside down, they can still find ways to get back to the people/things they care about and make things right. Kids and parents who have been through a lot or who would like to understand others who have, would probably really appreciate it.

1.) As an adult I take the belief that children's movies are just for children as an abomination. I got Home for my three year old to watch, and I'm not going to lie- I wanted to see it as well. I thought he'd approach it as he had a multitude of other movies, with passive aggressive disdain. That wasn't the case at all. From the first scenes, he was enthralled with the colors, music, and characters. He even got invested in the well-being of the cat.
By the end, we were both in love.

2.) on the commercial, I could not stand Jim Parson's voice but in the movie, his stylized English was very entertaining throughout the film. The aliens are sitting but by the end you understand why and there us the most incredibly adorable and unexpected twist. I will say no more. I watched this because I have kids but like Inside Out, Big Hero 6, Up and Cloudy With Chance of Meatballs 2, if I had missed these as an adult, my life would be less rich. These are excellent films. Seriously. I look forward to seeing this one again to just soak up the computer animation details. OMIGOD Rihanna can act and Parsons' delivery was top notch.

I love this movie for so many reasons! Touches on so many topics/lessons for kids and is adorable as well! Initially I thought it might be annoying or for really young kids based on the cover picture, but this isn't the case at all!

Love the lessons on diversity, accepting other cultures vs believing you are superior/smarter, etc, understanding emotions, consequences of mistreating others & being reckless, appreciation of art, power of music and dancing, being unique & different, taking perspective of others, friendship & family, loyalty & sacrifice vs selfishness, bravery, and more.

I also love that the main character is a beautiful black girl with curly hair and possibly hispanic mother? instead of white like so many movies are. I like that media is finally (though slowly) catching up to real culture. This is especially great for the girls I nanny for, who are half white/black and asked why so many Disney movies have girls with light skin and straight/wavy hair instead of darker skin and curly hair like theirs. They already talk about wanting straight hair and how their dolls with lighter skin are prettier, which is heartbreaking. The girl is also in 7th grade, and movie appeals to both younger and older kids, while also being entertaining for adults! :)

1.) Shipping was quick despite the holiday season, product was picture perfect and without damage. Very excited to be able to show something I loved so dearly as a child with my niece who has completely fallen in love with all that is Beauty and The Beast!

2.) Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World is a Disney DVD re-release of the 1997 Disney animated film based on the 1991 Oscar-winning film of the same name. In this story, which takes place in-between the events of the full-length movie. Belle and the Beast learns to get along and helps with the Beast's volatile temper, also, Luminere, Cogsworth and the rest of the gang organize a party to cheer up Mrs. Potts. The special features includes an episode of the 1995 live-action Disney series Sing Me a Story with Belle, interactive games, and trailers for upcoming Disney favorites like Brave, Treasure Buddies and Prep and Landing. Belle's Magical World is the best way for any Disney fan to spend time with the most spirited Disney Princess ever. :)

3.) I planning on have kids in the next couple of years and I am a DISNEY FAN! So, I am already going ahead with my kids' movie collection.
I love Beauty and the Beast, the only thing is that I feel this one is more for little kids, but that is with a lot of Disney movies, the 2nd. or 3rd. are usually for really young kids.
Still pretty good but maybe not too easy to enjoy for adults! Which is ok because they are meant for kids! Haha

Customer Review

1.) I purchased this movie used. My initial copy was worthless. It was a previously viewed rental and did not play at all. I had every intention of returning it but before I could, the company emailed me to inquire about my satisfaction. I told them my copy was worthless and they apologized and thanked me for giving them the opportunity to fix their foul up. They gave me a choice to get a full refund or obtain a replacement DVD. I elected to get a replacement. I gave them my feedback on a Saturday and they replied to me on Sunday! I had my replacement copy in hand by Wednesday. Their quality control could use some improvements but their customer service was impressive. I would probably purchase from this seller again.

Box Trolls is surprisingly entertaining. It's a dark comedy so it may not be appropriate for kids younger than 5 or 6. It's funny and original. The characters are well developed and the artistry if amazing. I see new details each time I watch it. If you like "A Series of Unfortunate Events ", then you will probably enjoy this film as well.

2.) This is a great movie and definitely worth seeing in 3D. We had seen this in the theatre in 2D and really the story. It has an incredible voice cast and the plot is very sweet. Laika is the Pixar of stop motion animation. Story is first and the animation style is just a tool to tell it.

Being rather late in the review process (there are already over 900 Amazon reviews of this film), I won't repeat all of the positive attributes given to this film by others. So I'll attempt to add something new to the conversation.

This is the rare animated feature that has a wonderful (and cohesive) story line, and which is absent of any heavy-handed populist agenda messages. (Sorry, no "girl power" messages here.) The only moral seems to be, "don't judge folks based on what you hear from others."

It's delightful to know that Claymation animation is still alive. How long this art form will last remains to be seen, but I loved the closing sequence where the reformed "minions" discuss the possibility that they are being manipulated by a greater power, which is progressively overlaid with a time-lapse sequence of the animators moving the figures during their metaphysical discourse (which gives some very small idea of just how much effort is really required in order to perform Claymation). And the end song by Eric Idle (of "Monty Python" fame) is a real brain worm.

This is a movie I can watch (and have watched) again and again, looking for subtleties in story line, background actions, and dialog each time - and every time it just gets better and better (sort of like the 1939 version of "The Wizard of Oz", my all-time favorite film.)

3.) "The Boxtrolls" is a beautiful tale of unconditional love and acceptance, and an unlikely friendship that reaches across the chasm of prejudice. I watched "The Boxtrolls" for a college film appreciation class and immediately fell in love. Watching this lovely film with your children will open the door for meaningful conversation on what constitutes a family. Is it a matter of "blood," or who loves and cares about each other? The computer generated animation is so lifelike you will forget you are watching a "cartoon." Let "The Boxtrolls" open your eyes and your mind to this ingenious tale, possibly challenging your views and uniting hearts.

New The Jungle Book

1.) Description (Editorial Reviews)

Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, The Jungle Book is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Idris Elba), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat.
Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Ben Kingsley), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Bill Murray). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Scarlett Johansson), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Christopher Walken), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire.

Rated PG for some sequences of scary action and peril.

Box office gross: $363.9 million. View box office history.
Released by Disney

2.) Special Features

I really cannot understand why anyone would rate this release less than 5 stars. From the intro on this movie was incredibly entertaining, exciting and well done and Mowgli and the voice overs were perfectly cast. No, it's not exactly like the original nor was it intended to be simply an updated copy of the original and to rate it less because it is not is absurd. A Fantastic movie and well deserving of 5 stars. So awesome I bought it, and that's a very rare occurrence indeed !

Customer Review

1.) Favreau did a stellar job on this remake! The Jungle Book has always been one of my favorite Disney films, and I have fond childhood memories of these characters. I was most excited to see how a "real-life" adaptation would turn out!
A few points of interest:
* Some of the storyline does change from the original, so it is fresh in that way.
* There are preludes to the introduction of some of the characters we love, and there is a bit of suspense awaiting them.
* I found the score to be fascinating. This film was synonymous with certain songs; of those, only one was fully reminiscent of its predecessor. The others were either reworked some, or served as background orchestral/theatrical numbers. All were recognizable though, and I thought they were just beautifully done. Even with new scenery, nostalgia rings strong in undertones. Fantastic.
*One of my favorite scenes is when the baby elephant is first shown. The subtle slow shot was a small touch that left a big impact.

2.) This movie was so good. So many great actors and actresses. I could easily watch this movie again and probably will. My family and I loved it and there are many funny scenes. This remake is better then the orignal. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone.
Plot: After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba)
Mowgli is forced to leave his wolf pack to go live with the humans again. So Mowgli embarks on his adventure with the help of Bagheera (Ben Kingsley) and along his way he meets Kaa (Scarlett Johansson), Baloo (Bill Murray), and King Louie (Christopher Walken).
Parents guide: There are some pretty intense scenes that children may find frightening. Lots of loud animal noises like the tiger roaring or King Louie yelling.

3.) The BEST "Jungle Book", that I have ever watched! Glorious, in color; attention to detail and a visual delight. The story, told simply and directly involves a little boy, raised by succored by Wolves, in combination with a Bear, Baloo and a wonderful Panther. The animals are animated, and speak, but you accept this because of the utmost care and perfection of each individual character. The voices of these remarkable creatures, headed by well known actors are perfection to the limit. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!
