1.) As a television series goes on, it can run the risk of stagnation, of jumping the shark, or of repetitiveness. Thankfully Michael Hirst and his fellow writers know the secret to sustaining a good show: with each new season you must deepen the characters, enlarge the world, and raise the stakes.

"Vikings" continues in this strain, which builds on the developments of the first two seasons whilst also forging into brand new territory. Having discovered lands to the west, Ragnar Lothbrok and his people are eager to explore and raid, but also settle in the country they soon learn is England. Naturally it's easier said than done.

Yet when we first see Ragnar at the start of season three, he's higher than he's ever been - figuratively and literally. Having defeated the kings and jarls that would have betrayed him and killed his family, Ragnar now sits with his eldest son on a clifftop overlooking his home. There they make plans to return to England - not on a raid, as has previously been the case, but to claim the land promised them by King Ecbert and start a new life as farmers.

2.) I thought the whole spirit of this show was encapsulated last season during the episode in which Ragnar is staring behind a door at every character on this show during a feast and wondering who is on his side and who is plotting against him. Even though the show has a historical underpinning to it, I think what makes it so amazing is in the fact that the producers made each and every major character someone that you are interested in seeing what their motives/struggles are. You just don't quite know who lies on which side. Think about it, pretty much every epic show out there like Game of Thrones have some dominant storylines AND some storylines that follow characters that you really have NO vested interest in. Not Vikings. Vikings is really the only show out there which the show can fork about 12 different ways with each character spotlight AND you can't wait to see how each one of them will fit into the bigger scheme.

3.) This is truly one of the most spectacular shows ever made, on every level. Whether you're a history buff or just like good television, this show puts a unique and personal perspective on the true history of the Vikings. Most of history during the time period Vikings showcases (8th-9th century Scandinavia & England) was written by the (real) Viking's "victims," the English monks, so the audience typically only gets one side of the story. Vikings portrays a magnificent and creative retelling of history through the Viking's eyes.

The timeline of the show isn't 100% precise, but what is completely accurate is the theme and mood of the show. It's not supposed to be true to every letter of the history books; if it were, it would be a documentary. What's more important is that Vikings will introduce the viewer into the life and culture of the time period. Vikings enables witnesses to submerse themselves into a 360-degree world to get an idea of what it felt like to live in Viking villages; a lifelike Viking experience. As the creator, Michael Hirst, says: "it's a world, not just a show."

The filmography, set design, and costumes go above and beyond what would be expected for a network's first scripted series, or most shows currently on television. The sets and wardrobe are astonishingly accurate (with relation to the medium) and the cinematography deftly enhances the beauty of the scenery and the story itself.

1.) "When Marnie Was There" is rumored to be the last film work by the famed japanese animation studio, Studio Ghibli after animator Hayao Miyazaki announced his retirement. This studio is world renowned for their beautiful hand drawn animations and attention to detail not to mention killer plot lines that act as both heartwarming and ideological. I had been previously blown away by "The Tale of Princess Kaguya" and though that it might have been Studio Ghibli's greatest work, but then came this movie. "When Marnie Was There" instantly blew me away with its premise and will continue the legacy of Ghibli movies that are masterpieces.

The story centers around a young girl who had a pretty rough upbringing and has a hard time identifying with people who spends her summer with some friends of her family. One day she stumbles upon this large house and instantly becomes attracted to it to then find out that a girl named Marnie is living there. The story kicks of from there and without spoilers, let me just say that it is magnificent. The story unravels so well throughout the film with an aura of mysticism and some deep emotional themes that are just heart wrenching. Though it is a kids movie, the film does well to explore dark themes that go through ones life without being too adult but at the same time being both significant to young and adult audiences alike.

2.) Just finished, along with Jeff H., watching "When Marnie Was There" released by Studio Ghibli.
Based on the children's novel written by Joan G. Robinson, "When Marnie Was There" is the lushly lyrical story of Anna, a young orphan who lives with her adoptive parents, who feel isolated and alone because she can not form emotional connections with those around her due to the fact that she doesn't feel like a normal person due to her asthma. She is also a very gifted artist.
When an asthma attack forces her into bed; her adoptive mother and her doctor decide that it would be better for her to spend a few months in the country where the clean air would do her a world of good.
So Anna's "auntie" - what she calls her adoptive mother - makes arrangements with her relatives who live in the country, and soon Anna is on a train to meet her cousins.

3.) Once there, Anna is enchanted by the sight of the old abandoned Marsh house. As she draws it, she notices a light in a second story window. Intrigued, Anna bravely decides to cross the marsh when the tide is low and investigates. What she finds is a deserted house, with decades of dust. She falls asleep and would be stranded at the Marsh house if it wasn't for being rescued by a silent boatman who befriends her.
A few days pass and she returns to the shore to find a rowboat waiting for her. Hesitant, because she really doesn't know how to row, Anna begins to row for the old Marsh house, where she finds Marnie waiting for her.

1.) Pixar Animation Studios is without a doubt the best studio making movies right now. I love all their films and having to pick one as your favorite is a really tough decision that has to be done with some serious thinking. They're that good. Still, as fantastic as every Pixar film is, I've always have had a softer spot for The Incredibles and I have to call it my favorite Pixar film.

Since its release in 2004, TI has been one of my favorite films of all time. The story is excellent, the characters are endearing, it's action packed and has amazing animation. Brad Bird really created a masterpiece. TI resonate in so many levels because it's not only a fantastic super hero film, it's also a fantastic film about family, relationships, and a lot more. It's really a very sophisticated movie that perhaps will entertain the adults more than the children but, as with every Pixar film, TI has a wide appeal and is high quality entertainment for everyone.

At long last, Disney has released the film in Blu-Ray and what a release it is!!!

2.) This is the ultimate superhero movie, consisting of two superhero parents that have been banned into normalcy by the U.S. government and three kids that have somehow inherited powers of their own---a confused teenage girl who can make herself invisible and also create force fields that can't be breached, a growing boy that can almost break the sound barrier, and isn't allowed to enter any sporting events due to his speed, and an infant that doesn't seem to be anything but normal until his surprising transformation at the very end.

The dad is depressed with his BS job dealing with insurance policies and who is allowed to use their policy, according to his whiny boss, and likes to secretly monitor police CB's to help anyone who can be in trouble themselves. When his job falls into a rut, he is suddenly contacted by an agent working for an anonymous boss that needs his help with a few assignments at three times his regular salary. Everything goes according to plan and Mr. Incredible feels like he's getting the best out of the bargain until he finds out that his next assignment is really a trap and his employer is a bitter-maliced guy who gave himself superpowers, including a bitter past with Mr. Incredible in his youth.

The only ones that can save Mr. Incredible turns out to be the members of his family, which soon come to the rescue in a series of exploding planes, erupting rockets, and battling bad guys on hovercraft vehicles at great speeds. The entire movie is completely packed with action, explosions, and one flying RV that manages to wreck itself at high speeds without harming any members of the family in return. Boo-yah! And let's not mention the bowling-ball robot that can move at high speeds and wreck Army tanks at the same time. This movie is super-cool!

3.) Possibly Pixar's best movie, right up there with Finding Nemo, Upside Down and the Toy Story films. Pixar's ability to continually come with such great story and dialogue writing blows my mind. I've owned the DVD version since it came out, but my recent acquisition of an upgraded hi-def TV has forced me to replace the 'worthy' movies with blu-ray versions. This one is definitely worthy.

1.) FIRST!!!!!!!

Parents, I would suggest before you sit your little tykes down to watch this video that you watch the first 3 (John Henry, Lorenzo and The Little Match Girl) with your littles in mind and decide if these 3 somewhat potentially disturbing animations might be a little much for them. With both John Henry and Little Match Girl, the endings are true to the original tales and Lorenzo is just...ummm...weird.

However, it's a great collection encompassing a variety of different styles. Well worth it.

2.) First and foremost, let me start right off the bat here and say this is an amazing collection of shorts. Much like the Disney Treasures DVD sets, this set is made to release some of the theatrical shorts Disney has made during the 2000's and 2010's. But not only that, in addition this set includes two shorts that would have been part of the unfinished 3rd Fantasia film. Each of the shorts are presented in their correct theatrical aspect ratios and the Blu-ray presentation makes them look beautiful to look at certai points. Special mention also must be made towards the introductions before each short; they're short and straight to the point, but for those of you who don't want to see them, you have the option of turning them off.

3.) For those of you who don't own a Blu-ray player, a DVD is included with this set, so don't be discouraged by the packaging.
However, something that must be mentioned here is that most of these shorts have been released on DVD/Blu-ray before at one point or another; so for those of you who are thinking of buying this, just be aware that you could potentially be double-dipping.
